Easily Locate Maps Related to a Passage

Knowing the geographical context of a passage certainly aids in our understanding of that passage. To assist with the discovery of that context Logos provides us with the Atlas loaded with dozens of biblical maps. There are numerous ways to access and use this tool, but today’s blog focuses on a power user trick causing the Atlas to follow us from passage to passage in the Bible.

Take this out for a ride:

  • Open your preferred Bible (A)
  • Open the Atlas from the Tools menu (B)
  • Click the Map List icon in the upper left of the Atlas (C) to toggle on the sidebar (D)
  • Link the Atlas and the Bible:
    • Choose the panel menu on the Atlas (E)
    • Select Link set A (F)
    • Choose the panel menu on the Bible (G)
    • Select Link set A (H)
  • Type a passage like Acts 13 in the Bible’s reference box
  • Press the Enter key to jump to this location (I)
  • Notice that same reference is placed in the Atlas’ Filter box (J) and all the maps tagged Acts 13 are automatically placed in the list (K)
  • Click a map in the list to open it (L)
  • Either scroll in the Bible or type a new reference in its box (M) and notice the Atlas again automatically finds maps pertaining to that passage! (N)

This is a great little trick to easily locate maps pertaining to the passage we’re reading!
